Women’s Aid has officially opened its new shop in Ballymena, marked by a proud ribbon cutting ceremony with The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Thomas Gordon.

Located on Henry Street, the new shop will offer a fantastic array of quality 'new and nearly new' women's clothing & accessories, books, treasures and furniture.

Mayor Gordon said ““It is wonderful to see Women’s Aid open its new store in Ballymena. The vital services provided by Women's Aid strongly complement the council’s commitment to raising awareness and tackling violence against women and girls."

As the organisation’s second store in the borough [building on the success of shops in Antrim and Larne] this is a fantastic achievement that will not only help strengthen Women’s Aid financially, but also provide a welcoming and inclusive space in the heart of our town centre for the wider community to enjoy.

Women’s Aid provides specialist services for women and children experiencing domestic abuse. Highlighting its impact The Mayor said “The new shop will give local people an opportunity to support this work in a practical way, whether through shopping, donating or volunteering. Every contribution will help Women's Aid deliver essential services to those who rely on them.”

Speaking at the opening, Women’s Aid CEO Gillian Robinson said: “We are thrilled to be opening our new shop in Ballymena. It is a wonderful opportunity for the community to support our vital work with women and children, shop sustainably, purchase quality brands, and help transform lives."

“Volunteers will be essential to the shop’s success. If you would like to help out and volunteer for a few hours each week, we would love to hear from you."

"The support we have received has been incredible, and we look forward to welcoming everyone through our doors.”

Thanking Women’s Aid, The Mayor added “On behalf of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, I wish Women's Aid every success in this new venture and thank all the staff, volunteers and supporters whose hard work has made this possible.”

“Your commitment to helping families is both admirable and deeply appreciated.”

Open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm you can visit Women’s Aid new shop at 23-25 Henry Street, Ballymena BT43 3AA.
