Every child deserves to feel the magic of new pyjamas at Christmas. Sadly, for many children across Northern Ireland, this simple joy is just not possible.
The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick, is once again championing the Women’s Aid ABCLN Christmas Pyjama Appeal. Now in its fifth year, the initiative aims to ensure that children living in refuge or within our communities, affected by domestic abuse can experience dignity, comfort, and some festive cheer this Christmas.
Councillor Kirkpatrick made a heartfelt appeal to the public:
“I would urge those of you who can, to please donate a new pair of pyjamas for boys and girls from newborn to teens. Pyjamas for women are also greatly appreciated. The pyjamas don’t need to be Christmas themed as spare pyjamas are used in refuge for children and women who arrive throughout the year with nothing.
“Together, we can help children affected by domestic abuse to feel special this Christmas. Your generosity will make a real difference to families who are struggling.”
Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is once again proudly supporting the appeal, with designated drop-off points at:
Antrim Civic Centre
Mossley Mill
Antrim Castle Gardens Gift Shop
Ballyclare Town Hall
All donations will be collected and distributed by Women’s Aid ABCLN, reaching women and children across the Borough in need of support. Gift cards will also be accepted.
CEO Gillian Creevey expressed her gratitude:
“We are truly grateful to the Mayor, Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick, for her unwavering support. Each year, the generosity of the public continues to grow, and Women’s Aid ABCLN are humbled by this kindness. A gift as simple as warm pyjamas may seem small, but it makes a big difference to many lives. We are sincerely thankful to Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council, along with the many local businesses whose support makes this appeal possible.”
Donations will be accepted until Wednesday 10 December.
