Women’s Aid Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and
Through our work we are continually faced with the innocent victims of domestic abuse – children and young people who suffer many detrimental experiences. We are once again asking for your help so we can build a purpose built centre to work with the children and young people across the five areas. The ‘Cornerstone [2]’ project seeks to raise £60,000 to match the £60,000 we have already received – we are nearly there!!
Last year we asked for your help to get funding for the Safe Haven garden in Antrim by voting for our project. We were successfully awarded £50,000 and we thank you for your support.
In 2010/11 more than 100,000 children and young people across Northern Ireland were affected by domestic violence; 1,077 women and 854 children were accommodated in refuges and 2,938 women and 3,617 children supported to remain in their home in the community.
In that same period Women’s Aid ABCLN supported over 2,147 young people experiencing domestic violence by providing practical and emotional support, individual and group work programmes and most importantly a safe place to address issues free from violence, abuse and threat.
Young people living with domestic violence are living in crisis. Constant change, disruption and violence in a young person’s life can make school a real challenge and diminish their ability to engage in education.

Women’s Aid ABCLN has identified that domestic violence impacts on the development and learning of over 80% of young people accessing its services.
The projected cost to provide the Cornerstone Children and Young People’s Centre is £120,000.
To date Women's Aid ABCL & N has raised £60,000. We need the money raised by December 2012.
