PSNI offer a Safe Place for
victims of domestic abuse

Safe Place is just one of the recent Onus initiatives that PSNI have adopted across Northern Ireland. The Service were presented with their Gold Workplace Charter by Justice Minister David Ford at Parliament Buildings last month, in recognition of the proactive approach to domestic abuse taken by PSNI as employers.

Additionally PSNI regionally have adopted a new initiative for victims of domestic abuse. ‘Safe Place’ gives information to all victims of domestic violence, on the wide range of support services available.

Onus, is working with PSNI who will provide the Safe Place resources to all PSNI stations across Northern Ireland.

Colette Stewart, Business Manager with Onus said:

‘We are delighted that PSNI regionally are supporting the Safe Place initiative. Many victims of domestic abuse do not realise there are a wide range of services available to support them. Safe Place is an initiative which above all else is a logo which provides reassurance, through displaying a highly visible logo informing victims of supports available and how to access them.

Anyone dealing with domestic violence can access support by calling the 24hr Domestic Violence Helpline on 0800 917 1414. Safe Place resources also give contact information for PSNI, Victim Support and Childline.
