MLA Mervyn Storey donates toys to Women’s Aid Christmas Appeal

Date:
15 December, 2010

North Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey arrived at Women’s Aid offices on Monday 13th December, bringing bags of toys for the local children whose families are using Women’s Aid services.

Gail McLaughlin, Manager of the teams who supports women living with domestic abuse, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the organisation:

‘We support many women and children in the North Antrim area who have experienced violence in their home, and who may also be struggling financially after leaving an abusive relationship. This generous donation will not only help these women provide for their families over Christmas, but are also a much appreciated statement of support’.

Churches, community groups and individuals have also left donations at the Women’s Aid offices, Naomi Centre, 2 Cullybackey Road, Ballymena.

Gail went on to say:
“To everyone who has thought of us this Christmas, we want to say a very big thank you. All of these gifts go to women and children locally, and they mean a lot to those who receive them. We are very touched by the generosity of the people of North Antrim. We wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Christmas”.
