AES UK & IRELAND SUPPORTS WOMEN’S AID WITH SAFETY EQUIPMENT
Women’s Aid Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey (ABCLN)  has received nearly £6,000 worth of personal and home safety equipment from AES UK & Ireland. The safety equipment will be distributed to local women at risk of domestic violence.
Women’s Aid ABCLN provides refuge, support, information, training and development opportunities to women and children affected by domestic violence. The charity supported 1,546 women and 8,579 children and young people who accessed its services between April 2014 and May 2015.
Lorna Dougherty, Appeals Co-ordinator at Women’s Aid ABCLN said: “We are very grateful to AES UK & Ireland for its support of Women’s Aid over the years and are particularly appreciative of this donation which will allow us to provide vital safety equipment to women in the Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey areas.”
Speaking after presenting the donation to Women’s Aid, Janice Hagan, HR Business Partner at AES UK & Ireland said: “Safety is our number one priority at AES, and we’re honoured to support the safety of some of the most vulnerable women and children in our local communities. Our procurement team was able to secure a 50% increase in the equipment that Women’s Aid would have otherwise received for that price – demonstrating the importance of skills-based volunteering as well as financial donations.”
