Kings Park Primary School donates £800 to Women’s Aid ABCLN
Women’s Aid Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne & Newtownabbey (ABCLN) would like to thank staff and pupils from Kings Park Primary School for their generous donation of £800 towards the Make It Better Appeal.
Principal Mr Skinner explained ‘Staff, pupils and parents took part in fundraising activities over the Christmas period to raise funds for Women’s Aid ABCLN. We work in close partnership and we wanted to acknowledge the great work they do within the local community’.
Ruth Owen, Fundraising Co-ordinator with Women’s Aid ABCLN paid tribute by saying, ‘Women’s Aid ABCLN would like to thank Kings Park Primary School for their fundraising support. Domestic Violence affects 1 in 4 families and with your support we can continue providing services to women and children affected by Domestic Violence within the local community’.
The funds donated will help to provide emotional and practical support to children and young people whose education has been affected by domestic violence. Constant change, disruption and violence in a young person’s life can make school a real challenge and diminish their ability to engage. Young people are the hidden victims of domestic violence and are significantly at risk of school dropout, exclusion and risk taking behaviours.
Anyone experiencing domestic violence can also access support by calling the 24hr Domestic & Sexual Violence Helpline on 0808 802 1414.
