Women’s Aid ABCLN Celebrate Volunteer Week 2014

Women’s Aid ABCLN recognised the contributions of their fantastic Volunteers last week with several events taking place during the week to mark Volunteers week.
Events were held at Clotworthy House in Antrim, the Swift and Brewers Fayre in Carrickfergus.  A few Volunteers also attended a special evening hosted by the Minister of Social Development, Nelson McCausland MLA in the Long Gallery at Stormont on behalf of the prestigious Queens Award for Voluntary Service which Women’s Aid ABCLN were awarded with in 2012.
Laura Dillon, Volunteer coordinator with Women’s Aid ABCLN, paid tribute to the volunteers by saying:
‘Our Volunteers are the backbone of our organisation and contribute so much without expecting anything in return. Their support and commitment is unwavering and without the work of the Volunteers our organisation could not survive. We are extremely grateful for the dedication of our wonderful Volunteers”.
Emma, a Volunteer in Carrickfergus for the last four years said:
“I have met some amazing and inspirational women both service users, workers and other volunteers in the last four years.  Spare time is precious to us all and I know that we all have stressful busy lives, but making the effort to give just a few hours of my time to Women's Aid has been one of the best decisions that I have ever made”
