Sponsored head shave raises over £3,000

Women’s Aid Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne & Newtownabbey (ABCLN) are delighted that local volunteer has raised over £3,000 to the Make It Better appeal following a sponsored head shave.

Christine Archer shaved off her hair on Sunday 11th May at Asda superstore in Larne. Christine says ‘I wanted to do something extreme to raise as much money for the Make It Better appeal as supporting children living with domestic violence is very important to me. I would like to thank everyone especially Asda, for their support to help me exceed my fundraising target.’

The Make It Better Appeal provides services for local children and young people who are affected by domestic violence. Young people are often the hidden victims of domestic violence and are significantly at risk of school dropout, exclusion and risk taking behaviours.

Ruth Owen Fundraising Coordinator says ‘We would like to thank Christine for the massive amount of money raised for the appeal. It will significantly help with the work we do.  We urge others to take part in fundraising to sustain this vital project to local children and young people. We are hosting the Make It Better fundraising week from 19th-25th May.  We are inviting you to organise your own fundraiser with family, friends and work colleagues.’  For more information, on how to sign up to the appeal visit: www.womens-aid.org.uk/makeitbetter
