Women’s Aid urges local businesses to support their Christmas Appeal

Date:
27 November, 2013

Women’s Aid (Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey (ABCL&N) provides support, information, and where necessary accommodation, for women, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence.

Traditionally we see an increase in referrals to our services over the Christmas period As an organisation we welcome any increase in the reporting of abuse as we know that it happens to an estimated 1 in 4 women across Northern Ireland.

Christmas time is a particularly difficult time for women and children affected by domestic violence. Every year we aim to make Christmas very special for families
accessing our services by providing food hampers and gifts.

Women’s Aid urges local businesses to support their Christmas appeal by donating food, gifts or money to local families in need due to circumstances arising from domestic violence.

Anyone affected by domestic violence or requiring support, please contact the Naomi Centre: 028 25632136. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am- 5pm.

Over the holiday period Naomi Centre will close on the following dates, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th December and 1st January 2014.
