Women’s Aid ABCLN Celebrate Make It Better Week 2013

Women’s Aid ABCLN recognises the contributions of local organisations and individuals who took part in fundraising for the Make It Better Appeal from 20th-26th May 2013.  The funds raised will help to provide services to children and young people whose education has been affected by domestic violence. Constant change, disruption and violence in a young person’s life can make school a real challenge and diminish their ability to engage. Young people are the hidden victims of domestic violence and are significantly at risk of school dropout, exclusion and risk taking behaviours.
Ruth Owen, Fundraising Co-ordinator with Women’s Aid ABCLN paid tribute by saying:
‘We can now reveal we have raised an astonishing £9,381.25 and we will continue to fundraise for the Make It Better Appeal all year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who got involved and showed their support.’
Local actress Alexandra Ford, also known as Dympna from Give My Head Peace has shown her support as Patron for the Make It Better Appeal. She says ‘I am delighted to support the Make It Better Appeal which will build upon the great work that has already been done to support local children and young people living with domestic violence’.

Anyone experiencing domestic violence can also access support by calling the 24hr Domestic Violence Helpline on 0800 917 1414.
